Abstract:

In order for a child in need of special education to take the most efficient advantage of education, parents and parents must actively participate in the child’s education and support this education at home. The obligation of the parents of a child with a special need to participate in the education is made by law and other legal regulations. Family participation levels have a significant impact on the characteristic characteristics of the family, as well as the practices of school management and teachers in relation to family participation. In this context, the purpose of this research is to determine the opinions of school managers about the participation of families in the educational process in private education. Data in this research, which is a qualified study, were obtained by interviews from 8 school managers who are managing in schools where private educational classes of public schools related to the Ministry of Education in the province of İzmir in the year 2020-2021. Research finds that family participation levels are insufficient. This deficiency is mostly caused by reasons such as the psychological conditions of the parents, the kind and level of obstacles of their children, the unwillingness to work, the level of education, the number of children they have. Family participation studies have also been negatively affected by the Covid-19 epidemic. In the light of the data obtained, the school managers should be informed of the issues of family participation and family education in service education.
