Abstract:

In the studies of proverbs, there are limited studies on their reflective characteristics and sociological content they carry. However, the conceptual field studies on proverbs can shed light on the work to be done in many branches of social sciences. In the first half of the 16th century, after the death of Kasım Khan, the Kazakhs split into three governorate. In this structure, the changeability of the ruler family, the fact that the person who will become a khan has to prove his ability to rule by getting the support of the people and the chiefs, while making the rulers open to criticism, the society has gained the practice of criticizing the rulers. For this reason, Kazakh proverbs are suitable language materials for the study of society's perspective on rulership. In this article, an answer to the question of whether proverbs reflecting mental codes that affirm, naturalize, criticize the rulers/rulership, and contain blurred judgments about inequalities will be sought. View of power will be discussed in the context of its origin, theme, and addressee.
