Abstract:

In this research, graduate theses on sibling relations, which are an important social context in the human development process, were examined. Graduate theses are very important data sources for shedding light on future research in terms of the subject, method, theoretical framework, results and recommendations they deal with. In this sense, it seems to be important to examine how the prepared graduate theses dealing with sibling relations as a subject matter in Turkey. For this purpose, the theses available in the database of the Higher Education Council (YÖK) National Thesis Center were examined. In this descriptive study, the keywords "sibling", "sibling relations" and "siblinghood" were searched. As a result of the scanning, the study was conducted over 70 graduate theses, including 61 master's theses and nine doctoral dissertations. As a result of the research, it was determined that the graduate theses on sibling increased in the last 10 years, and they dealt mostly within the subject of psychology and special education. It was also observed that most of the theses were prepared without a theoretical basis. In the theses, it was determined that the quantitative method was used and the individuals in primary and high school age were generally studied.
