Sosyal Ağlarda Arkadaş Olmak: Keşifsel Bir Araştırma

Abstract:

Sosyal ağların günlük hayatın vazgeçilmez bir parçası olması ve gün içerisinde yaygın kullanılması nedeniyle sosyal ağ arkadaşlıklarının öneminin giderek arttığı görülmektedir. Özellikle sosyal ağlar, gençler tarafından sosyalleşmenin yeni bir aracı olarak kabul edilmektedir. Bu nedenle bireyler sosyal ağlar üzerinden yeni arkadaşlıklar kurmayı amaçlamaktadır. Kurulan arkadaşlıkların bazıları gerçek dünyada, bazıları ise sanal dünyanın bir parçası olan sosyal ağlarda çeşitli nedenlerle sonlanabilmektedir. Bu araştırmanın amacı, Facebook kullanıcılarının tanımadıkları kişiler ile arkadaş kalması ya da bu kişileri arkadaşlıktan çıkarmasını etkileyen unsurları ortaya çıkarmaktır. Öncelikle, hayali Facebook hesapları oluşturulmuştur. Uygulama Aksaray Üniversitesi öğrencileri üzerinde gerçekleştirilmiştir. Hayali hesapların profil fotoğrafı, cinsiyeti, aynı üniversitede eğitim alma ve ilişki durumunun kullanıcıların arkadaş kalma davranışı ile arasındaki ilişki ölçülmüştür. Ayrıca katılımcıların demografik özelliklerine göre arkadaşlığı sürdürme davranışındaki farklılıklar da analiz edilmiştir. Sonuçlar incelendiğinde, erkek kullanıcıların arkadaş kalma oranının kadın kullanıcılara göre daha yüksek olduğu görülmüştür. Bununla birlikte, istek gönderen hesabın cinsiyeti, profil fotoğrafı, eğitim ve ilişki durumunun, katılımcıların arkadaş kalma davranışı üzerinde bir etkisinin olmadığı bulgusuna ulaşılmıştır. Ayrıca katılımcıların demografik farklılıklarının arkadaş kalma davranışı üzerinde herhangi bir etkisinin olmadığı ulaşılan diğer bir bulgudur. Elde edilen bulgular, ilgili literatüre ile paraleldir

Being Friends on Social Networks: A Discoverable Research

Abstract:

Because social networks are an integral part of everyday life and are widely used throughout the day, the importance of social networks is increasing. In particular, social networks are seen by young people as a new means of socialization. This is why individuals intend to build new friendship through social networks. Some of the established friendships can end in the real world, while some can end in social networks, which are part of the virtual world, for various reasons. The purpose of this research is to reveal the elements that influence Facebook users to stay friends with people they don’t know or to get them out of friendship. First of all, imaginary Facebook accounts are created. The application was carried out on the students of Aksaray University. The profile photo of imaginary accounts, the gender, the relationship between the study at the same university and the relationship status and the user's friendship behavior. Also, the differences in the behavior ofining friendship were analyzed according to the demographic characteristics of participants. When the results were studied, it was found that male users had a higher rate of friendship than female users. However, the requesting account’s gender, profile photo, education and relationship status have not been found to have an impact on the participant’s friendship behavior. It is also another finding that the demographic differences of participants have no influence on friendship behavior. The findings obtained are parallel to the related literature

As social networks are an indispensable part of daily life and they are widely used throughout the day, the importance of social networking friendships is increasing. Social networks, especially, are recognized by young people as a new means of socialization. Therefore, individuals aim to establish new friendships through social networks. Some of the established friendships can be ended in a variety of reasons in the real world and others in the social networks, a part of virtual world. The purpose of this research is to reveal the reasons why Facebook users stay friends with the people they do not know or remove them. First, imaginary Facebook accounts have been created. The application was carried out on the students of Aksaray University. The relationship between the profile photo, gender, educational status and relationship status of fictitious accounts and the friendship behavior of the users were measured. Moreover, the differences in the behavior of maintaining the friendship according to the demographic characteristics of the participants were also analyzed. When the results were examined, it was seen that male users’ maintaining friendship rate was higher than female users. In addition, it was found that the gender of the requesting account, profile photo, education and relationship status had no effect on the participants’ behavior of maintaining friending. It was also found that the demographic differences of the participants had no effect on the behavior of maintaining friending
