Bölgeler arası gelişmişlik farkı, birçok ülke açısından önemli bir problemdir. Fakat bu durum ekonomik yönden geri kalmış ülkeler bakımından daha ciddi boyutlardadır. Birçok ülke bölgelerarasındaki bu sosyo-ekonomik dengesizlikleri ortadan kaldırmak için çeşitli politikalara başvurmaktadır. Bu politikalar çerçevesinde geri kalmış bölgelere yatırım çekerek bölgenin kalkınması sağlanmaya çalışılmaktadır. Bu noktada yerel potansiyellerin değerlendirilmesi büyük önem kazanmaktadır. Her bölge sahip olduğu potansiyeli kullanarak kendi kalkınmasını sağlamaya çalışmalıdır. Turizm sektörü de bu potansiyellerden birini oluşturmaktadır. Turizm, yalnızca bölgesel kalkınma veya ülke ekonomisine fayda sağlamakla kalmayıp aynı zamanda bölgeler arasındaki eşitsizliklerin giderilmesi, istihdam olanaklarının yaratılması, bölgeler arası göçün azaltılması, ülke kaynaklarının etkin ve verimli kullanılması, ülkelerin tanıtılması, sürdürülebilir kalkınmanın sağlanması, bireylerin yaşam standartlarının artması gibi birçok konuda fayda saylayan sanayiye alternatif bir ekonomik faaliyettir. Bölgesel kalkınma ekonomik ve sosyal potansiyelin olumlu kullanımına paralel olarak bir bölgede refah seviyesindeki artışı tanımlamaktadır. Gelişmiş ülke ya da bölgelerde kalkınma daha çok endüstriyel sektöre dayalı olmasına rağmen; gelişmekte olan ülke ya da bölgelerde ise turizm zenginliklerinin kullanımı sayesinde sağlanmaktadır, bu bölgelerde ya da ülkelerde turizmin endüstriye alternatif bir sektör olduğu ifade edilmektedir. Medeniyetler beşiği olan Türkiye'nin hemen her bölgesi turizm potansiyeline sahiptir. Bu potansiyele yönelik farkındalığın arttırılması bölgesel kalkınmaya büyük katkılar sağlayacaktır. Bu ilişkiden hareketle çalışmada Türkiye’de yoğun turist çeken Antalya, Nevşehir, Muğla ve Aydın şehirleri 2009-2018 dönemi için bir panel veri seti ile yıllık bazda ele alınarak, turizmin, bölgesel kalkınma üzerindeki etkisi araştırılmıştır. Araştırmada turizm, ilgili şehirlerdeki turistik tesislere giriş yapan turist sayısı ve kalkınma ise il bazında GSYİH ile temsil edilmiştir. Panel veri analizinden elde edilen bulgulara göre; ilgili şehirlerdeki turistik tesislere giriş yapan turist sayısının, bu şehirlere ait il bazında GSYİH’yi pozitif yönlü olarak etkilediği gözlemlenmiştir.
The development difference between regions is an important problem for many countries. However, this situation is more serious for economically underdeveloped countries. Many countries apply various policies in order to eliminate these socio-economic imbalances between regions. Within the framework of these policies, efforts are made to ensure the development of the region by attracting investments to the underdeveloped regions. At this point, the evaluation of local potential becomes very important. Each region should try to ensure its own development by using its potential. The tourism sector is one of these potentials. Tourism does not only benefit the regional development or the country's economy, but also to the industry, which counts benefits in many issues such as eliminating inequalities between regions, creating employment opportunities, reducing interregional migration, using country resources effectively and efficiently, promoting countries, ensuring sustainable development, and increasing the living standards of individuals. it is an alternative economic activity. Regional development defines the increase in the welfare level in a region in parallel with the positive use of economic and social potential. Although development in developed countries or regions is mostly based on the industrial sector; In developing countries or regions, it is provided by the use of tourism wealth. It is stated that tourism in these regions or countries is an alternative sector to industry.The cradle of civilization in almost every region of Turkey has the potential for tourism. Increasing awareness of this potential will make great contributions to regional development. In this study, busy attracting tourists in Antalya in Turkey, Nevsehir, Mugla and Aydin cities with a panel data set for the 2009-2018 period, by taking on a yearly basis, the tourism, the impact on regional development was investigated. In the study, tourism, the number of tourists entering the tourist facilities in the relevant cities, and development were represented by the GDP on a provincial basis. According to the findings obtained from the panel data analysis; It has been observed that the number of tourists entering the touristic facilities in the relevant cities positively affects the GDP of these cities on the basis of provinces.
