Abstract:

In this study, in order to evaluate the motivations of kick boxing athletes to participation in sports, gender, age category, nationality status and sports age were conducted to examine whether the motives of participation in sports differ. The sample of the study participated in the Turkish Championship held in Ordu in 2022 and 89 men; A total of 147 athletes, including 76 in the youth category and 71 in the elders category. In the study, the personal information form developed by the researcher and Gill, et al. (1983) developed by Oyar et al. (2001) was used by the Part Motivation Questionnaire (PMQ). In the analysis of the data, Kruskal Wallis Test and Mann-Whitney U tests were used and the level of significance was taken as 0.05. As a result of the research, it was determined that there was no statistically significant difference between male and female athletes and national athletes in the national variable and national athletes. Significant differentiation was found in the “Total motive score” and “success/status” and “friend” sub -dimensions of the category variable. According to the sport age variable, a significant difference was found in the “competition” sub -dimension of athletes participation in sports. When we look at the arithmetic average (1,02) obtained in our study, it is possible to say that the motivation of kick boxing athletes is high.
