Abstract:

The aim of this study is to study the relationship between the unrational beliefs of university students in romantic relationships, their attitudes to marriage and their psychological symptoms. The sample of the study consists of 400 bachelor students (277 women, 123 men) selected through the appropriate sample among the university students who are studying in the faculty of the University of Kırıkkale in the 2019-2020 educational year. In the framework of the study, the scale of unreasonable beliefs in romantic relationships (RAINÖ) has been used to measure the beliefs of university students about romantic relationships, the scale of the short symptom scale (KSE) to measure the marriage attitude, and the scale of the short symptom scale (KSE) to measure the psychological signs. The results of the research on the data obtained on the pearson moments have been used for correlation analysis, t test and one-way variance analysis. The study found that there was a positive meaningful relationship between excess expectations, social time use, physical proximity and mental reading and marriage attitudes, which are the lower dimensions of the scale of unreasonable beliefs in romantic relationships. According to the results of the analysis conducted to study the relationship between non-rational beliefs and psychological symptoms of university students in romantic relationships, there was a statistically meaningful relationship between scale total points. However, it has been found that the unrational beliefs of university students in romantic relationships vary according to the status of sex and romantic relationships. The findings obtained from the research were discussed on the basis of a cognitive approach.
