Abstract:

This article contains a letter from Izmirli Ismail Hakkı (1869-1946) in the archive of Mehmed Said Hatiboğlu. The letter of June 29, 1939 was referred to two requests by the Burdur Mufti Mehmet Re'fet Efendi (1879-1945). The book is written by Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) by Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). 456/1064) It is clear that the work called el-Muḥallā requires the translation of the ribā reference. The right of Ismail is to say that he cannot fulfill this request because of his occupation, but in his letter to Ebū Ḥanīfe (e.g. 150/767) and the criticism he addressed to Hanefī. In this study, the letter which is in favor of a rejection, the reference to the Qur’an, the hadith and the sources are drawn up.

In this study, a letter from İzmirli İsmail Hakkı (1869-1946) in the archive of Mehmed Said Hatiboğlu has been published. The letter dated 29.6.1939 was written to two students of Mehmet Re’fet Efendi (1879-1945). It is understood from the writings of Izmirli’s that Mehmet Re’fet Efendi requested the translation of the “ribā” part of Ibn Ḥazm’s (d. 456/1064) al-Muḥallā from him. While İsmail Hakkı stated that he could not fulfill this request due to his occupations, he evaluated Ibn Ḥazm’s criticisms of Abū Ḥanīfa (d. 150/767) and Hanafīs in his letter. In this study, the letter, has been published and annoted the verses, hadith and sources.
