Araştırmanın amacı, 2022-2023 eğitim öğretim yılında ortaokullarda okutulan 5, 6, 7 ve 8. sınıf fen bilimleri ders kitaplarında yer alan değerleri belirlemek ve bu değerlerin farklı yayınlara ait ders kitapları içindeki dağılımını tespit etmektir. Ayrıca milli, manevi ve dini değerlerimize aykırı değer durumları da incelenmiştir. Araştırmada, belirtilen sınıf düzeylerinde fen bilimleri dersinde okutulan yedi ayrı ders kitabı 27 değer üzerinden incelenmiştir. Ders kitaplarının giriş kısmında bulunan İstiklal Marşı ve Gençliğe Hitabede yer alan değerler incelemeye alınmamıştır. Nitel araştırma yöntemi kullanılan araştırmada veriler, doküman analizi kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda ders kitaplarında sırasıyla en çok sorumluluk, çalışkanlık, duyarlılık ve yardımlaşma-dayanışma değerlerine yer verildiği tespit edilmiştir. Kitap içindeki değerlerin dağılımları arasında büyük farklar bulunduğu ve değerlerin konular arasında eşit dağılmadığı tespit edilmiştir. Alçakgönüllülük, selamlaşma, doğruluk-dürüstlük ve nazik olmak, misafirperverlik değerlerine ya çok az yer verilmiş ya da hiç rastlanmamıştır. Ders kitapları okuma metinleri ve görseller yönünden de incelenmiş olup duyarlılık, hoşgörülülük, sorumluluk değerlerine ve vatanseverlik, kültürel mirasa sahip çıkma, milli ve dini değerler ile ilişkili olan Türk İslam bilim dünyasından örneklere yer verildiği ancak bu örneklerin eşit şekilde dağılmadığı tespit edilmiştir. Araştırmada ulaşılan sonuçlar doğrultusunda, fen bilimleri ders kitaplarında değerler açısından inceleme yapacaklara ve fen bilimlerinde değerlerin aktarılmasını önemseyen eğitimcilere çeşitli öneriler getirilmiştir.
The aim of the research is to determine the values in the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade science textbooks taught in secondary schools in the 2022-2023 academic year and to determine the distribution of these values in the textbooks of different publications. In addition, values that contradict our national, spiritual and religious values were also examined. In the research, seven different textbooks taught in science courses at the specified grade levels were examined based on 27 values. The values in the National Anthem and the Address to Youth, which are in the introduction part of the textbooks, were not examined. In the research using qualitative research method, data were analyzed using document analysis. As a result of the research, it was determined that the values of responsibility, diligence, sensitivity and cooperation-solidarity were mostly included in the textbooks, respectively. It has been determined that there are large differences between the distribution of values in the book and that the values are not distributed equally among the subjects. The values of humility, greeting, honesty, being polite and hospitality are either rarely mentioned or not found at all. The textbooks were also examined in terms of reading texts and visuals, and it was determined that examples from the Turkish-Islamic world of science related to sensitivity, tolerance, responsibility values and patriotism, protecting cultural heritage, national and religious values were included, but these examples were not distributed evenly. In line with the results obtained in the research, various suggestions have been made for those who will examine science textbooks in terms of values and for educators who care about transferring values in science.
