Abstract:

Evaluation of the effects of meloxicam applied in increased doses in sheep on hematological, biochemical and hemostatic blood parameters

Abstract:

The aim of the study was to determine the effect of meloxicam in increased intravenous doses (0,5, 1 and 2 mg/kg) on the hematological, biochemical and coagulation parameters. Clinically healthy sheep were divided into random groups: Group 1 (n=6), Group 2 (n=6) and Group 3 (n=6). A single dose of meloxicam was administered intravenously by group 1 to 0.5 mg/kg, group 2 to 1 mg/kg and group 3 to 2 mg/kg. Blood samples were collected at 0, 24 and 72 hours to determine the effect of the use of meloxicam in increased single doses on the hematological, biochemical and compounding factors. The hemogram (RBC, MCV, MCH, MCHC, HCT, WBC, HGB, RDW, MPV, PDW, PCT, PLT) and biochemical parameters (AST, ALT, ALP, GGT, TP, UREA, CREA, CHOL, TRIG, ALB) have also determined the levels of coagulation parameters (PT, APTT, INR, FIB). The findings: in groups; the differences in the biochemical and RBC, HCT, MCV, MCHC, MPV parameters other than UREA were statistically meaningful (p<0,05). In terms of their relationship with the hemostatic blood parameter levels, there was no statistically significant difference. Recommendation: As a result, it is believed that more comprehensive studies are needed for the use of advanced techniques such as molecular diagnosis methods in terms of the hemostatic, hematological and biochemical effects of increased single doses of meloxicam in cows.
