Habermas gibi modern insanın ve aklının özgürlüğünü felsefesinde ve çalışmalarında en güçlü şekilde savunan bir filozofun 2001 yılında Alman Yayıncılar Birliği Barış Ödülü töreninde yaptığı “İnanç ve Bilim” başlık teşekkür konuşması ve ortaya attığı post-seküler toplum kavramı bir çok tartışmaya ve araştırmaya konu olmaya devam etmektedir. Bu kapsamda ele aldığımız çalışma ile öncelikle Habermas’ın din anlayışının geçirdiği dönüşüm 3 dönem altında eserlerinden hareketle görünür kılınmaya çalışılacaktır. Ardından Habermas’ın ileri sürdüğü post-seküler toplum düşüncesi ile neyi kastettiği, bu düşüncenin günümüz toplumsal yapısının gerçekleri ile örtüşüp örtüşmediği, ilgili alanyazından hareketle eleştirel bir bakış açısı ile incelenmeye çalışılacaktır. Bu sayede Habermas gibi Aydınlanma düşüncesine sadık ve kendi ifadesiyle dini hassasiyeti olmayan bir düşünürün post-seküler toplum kavramı ile neyi kastettiği, post-seküler olarak değerlendirdiği günümüz toplumunda ilahi öğretilerin tartışılması gerektiğini ifade etmesinin ardında yatan nedenlerin neler olabileceği, dini öğretilerin post-seküler bir toplumda tartışılabilmesi için nasıl bir ortamın gerekli olduğu ve bu ortamın nasıl sağlanacağı soruları tartışılmaya çalışılacaktır. Sonuç bölümünde eleştiri yazınında göz ardı edilen fakat önemli olduğu düşünülen bir konuyu tartışmaya dahil ederek ilgili alanyazına katkılar sunulmaya çalışılacaktır.
Habermas, who is one of the strong advocates of freedom of modern man and his mind in his philosophy and works, proposed a vote of Thanks under the title "Faith and Science" at the Peace Prize ceremony of the German Publishers Association in 2001. The concept of post-secular society that he put forward in this speech continues to be the subject of many discussions and research. In this context the first aim of this study will be to try to make visible the transformation of Habermas' understanding of religion based on his works. The second goal is to examine, from a critical point of view, whether the post-secular society concept, put forward by Habermas, reflects the realities of today's social structure, by reviewing relevant critical studies. In this way questions like; What does a thinker like Habermas who is loyal to the Enlightenment thought and who, in his own words, does not have religious sensitivity, mean by the concept of post-secular society, What could be the reasons behind his statement that religious teachings should be discussed in today's society, which he considers as post-secular, What kind of an environment is necessary for religious teachings to be discussed in a post-secular society and how will this environment be provided? will be discussed. In the conclusion it will be tried to present a different perspective to the related literature by including an issue that is ignored in the related critical literature but thought to be important.
