Abstract:

The aim of this study is to analyze the relationship between advanced technology exports and growth in the OECD countries. The study tested the causality between advanced technology exports and growth in 36 OECD countries for the period 1999-2017. For each country, the share of the total OECD countries of advanced technology exports (%) and the annual economic growth rate (%) are used. In the study, the panel cause analysis was used. The Pesaran CD test for horizontal cut dependency and the Friedman test, the Swamy S test for homogenity, the Westerlund (2007) panel matching test for the matching relationship, were performed. Furthermore, a panel causality test was applied to the detection of causality by Dumitrescu & Hurlin (2012). The results of the analysis have found that the economic growth has been a one-way cause to advanced technology exports.

Bu çalışmanın amacı; OECD ülkelerinde ileri teknoloji ihracatı ve büyüme ilişkisinin analiz edilmesidir. Çalışmada, 36 OECD ülkesinde 1999-2017 dönemi için ileri teknoloji ihracatı ve büyüme arasındaki nedensellik test edilmektedir. Her bir ülke için, ileri teknoloji ihracatının toplam OECD ülkeleri içindeki payı (%) ve yıllık ekonomik büyüme oranı (%) değişkenleri kullanılmıştır. Çalışmada, panel nedensellik analizi kullanılmıştır. Yatay kesit bağımlılığı için Pesaran CD testi ve Friedman testi, homojenlik için Swamy S testi, eşbütünleşme ilişkisi için Westerlund (2007) panel eşbütünleşme testi yapılmıştır. Ayrıca, nedenselliğin tespiti için Dumitrescu & Hurlin (2012) panel nedensellik testi uygulanmıştır. Yapılan analiz sonucunda; ekonomik büyümeden ileri teknoloji ihracatına doğru tek yönlü nedensellik olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.
