Abstract:

Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer among women in our country and world. The purpose of this literature collection is to gather and study the studies on nursing care applied to patients receiving mastectomy in the last 10 years (2009-2019) in our country. Method: Google scholar, Pubmed, Ulakbim, magazine databases have been used for literature scanning. From February 2019, the database has been scanned using the keywords “breast cancer and nursing, breast surgery and nursing, mastectomy and nursing”. In total, 11,790 studies were achieved and 13 articles in accordance with the criteria were included in the survey. The year in which these studies were carried out, the number of samples, the purpose, the measurement tool used, the findings and the results were studied separately. The findings: 925 patients who received mastectomy were reached when the results were studied. The studies conducted assessed the quality of life of the participants, sexuality, homosexuality, loneliness conditions, disease perception, body perception, lymphodemia, pain conditions, anxiety conditions and postoperative level of information. In all the studies, the participants experienced physiological and psychosocial difficulties. The conclusion: in the whole of the studies, the knowledge needs of the participants are high, and the nurses have a comprehensive approach to the patient, the patient can respond to both physiological and psychological needs, and the need to develop new strategies for education.
