Abstract:

Nursing is a very complex problem that affects hospital staff around the world. This problem concerns the question of how to allocate nurses monthly under certain limits to the tasks under certain limits, in order to take into account both the number of staff that the hospital needs and the ergonomic limitations to reduce the workload of nurses. Due to the seven-day, twenty-four-hour continuous work model that is being implemented in hospitals, nurses work under difficult conditions in terms of physical and mental workload. However, the concentration and performance of health workers is vital to provide quality health care. With the influence of factors such as distraction of attention, fatigue, time pressure and stress, the errors made by healthcare staff can lead to impossible consequences. In this context, the most important aspects to be taken into account in the nursing schedule is the preparation of a sufficient number of nurses and the writing of equal amounts of day, night and weekend nurses to each nurses. This is why the work has developed the Karma Total Direct Programming (KTDP) model. In literature, the total time of the attack is scheduled to be equalized, while in this study, unlike literature, the weekly day-night and weekend day-night hours of the nurses are equalized separately. Thus, a fairer aggression scheme was created by balancing the work loads formed depending on the working hours of the nurses more properly. The application work was carried out in the emergency and intensive care services at the Erzurum Regional Education and Research Hospital and the results were discussed.
