Abstract:

This article discusses the impact of social capital on the creation of ethnic economies of small Syrian entrepreneurs in İzmir. The study focuses primarily on social networks and social capital relationships in the context of migration; ethnic economy and entrepreneurship concepts. It is later mentioned in the province of Izmir about the Syrian immigration and the entrepreneurial activities of the Syrians in this settlement area. The study continues with the findings obtained from the fieldwork conducted through qualitative method-based interviews with 17 Syrian small entrepreneurs in İzmir. According to the findings obtained, the impact of their social capital on the migration process of small Syrian entrepreneurs has been discussed. The influence of social capital in the process of the formation of the ethnic entrepreneurship and ethnic economic network they form among themselves was discussed. In addition to the changing forms of capital, the social, economic and human capital’s impact on entrepreneurship is focused on the functionality of social capital.
