Suriye’de savaşın başlamasının 11. yıl dönümünde Suriyeli mülteci göçü, Türkiye ve Gaziantep için etkisini halen sürdürmektedir. Suriyeli mültecilere ilişkin haberlere de Gaziantep yerel basınında sıklıkla yer verilmektedir. Bu haberlerin toplumdaki Suriyeli mültecilere ilişkin değer yargılarını yeniden üreten bir niteliği bulunmaktadır. Bu çalışmada, Gaziantep yerel basınındaki Suriyeli mülteci sunumlarının nasıl gerçekleştiği incelenmektedir. Amaç: Çalışmanın amaçlarından ilki Gaziantep yerel basın haberlerinde Suriyeli mültecilerin hangi tema, tanımlama ve sözcük tercihleri ile sunulduklarını incelemektir. Çalışmanın bir diğer amacı da dört yıl önce yapılan bir araştırma ile güncel verileri karşılaştırmaktır. Yöntem: Araştırmada Gaziantep yerel basınından altı gazetedeki haberler niteliksel içerik analiziyle incelenmektedir. İnceleme 2021 Mart ile 2022 Mart tarihleri arasını kapsamaktadır. Daha sonra bu sonuçlar 2017 yılında yapılan araştırmayla karşılaştırılmaktadır. Bulgular: Gazetelerde farklı dönemlerde Suriyeli mültecilere yönelik sunumlarda olumlu bir değişim gözlemlenmemektedir. Ayrıca son dönemde, yerel basında, dışlayıcı pratiklerin yeni biçimlerine dair örnekler de tespit edilmektedir. Özgünlük: Araştırma daha önce yapılmış bir araştırmayla karşılaştırma yapmakta ve Gaziantep yerel basınındaki Suriyeli tanımlamalarının güncel içeriğini ortaya koymaktadır.
On the 11th anniversary of the start of the war in Syria, Syrian migration affects Turkey and Gaziantep. The news reports of Syrian refugees are also published in the Gaziantep local press. These news reports reproduce the value judgments about Syrian refugees in society. In this study, the presentations of Syrian refugees in the Gaziantep local press are examined. Purpose: The study’s first aim is to examine the theme, definition, and word preferences of Syrian refugees in Gaziantep local press news. The other purpose of the study is to compare the current data with a research carried out four years ago. Method: In the research, the news in six newspapers from the Gaziantep local press is analyzed with qualitative content analysis. The study covers the period between March 2021 and March 2022. These results are then compared with the study conducted in 2017. Findings: There is no positive change in the presentations of Syrian refugees in different periods in newspapers. In addition, recently, examples of new forms of exclusionary practices have been identified in the local press. Originality: The research compares with a previous study and reveals the current content of the Syrian descriptions in the Gaziantep local press.
