Abstract:

Purpose: The purpose of the study was to determine the Cloistered and Coalesce effect of yogic practices and dynamic sports vision training on selected Dynamic Visual Skills and Basketball Skill Performance Variables of Basketball Players. Subjects: The study was conducted sixty (N=60) boys basketball players who have been participated in the south zone school state level basketball tournaments in Kerala sports council training centre of school south zone Kerala state, India were selected randomly as subjects. Their age ranged from 15 to 17 years. The subjects were assigned at random into subjects were divided at random into four groups of fifteen each (n=15). Group-I underwent Yogic practices, group-II underwent Dynamic sports vision training, group-III underwent Coalesce of yogic practices and dynamic Sports vision training and group-IV acted as Control. All the subjects were fully informed regarding the nature of the experimental methodology and the subjects gave their consent to participate in this investigation. Variables: Dynamic Visual Skills such as Visual reaction time & Dynamic visual Acuity and Basketball skill variables such as passing and shooting were selected as dependent variables. Visual reaction was assessed through Chronoscope, Dynamic visual acuity and it was assessed by Dynamic Visual Acuity Test Non-instrumented (DVAT –NI) Basketball Passing and shooting were assessed by Knox Basketball skill Test and Nielsen Basketball skill Test respectively. Yogic practices, Dynamic sports vision training & coalesce of yogic practices and dynamic Sports vision training were selected as independent variables. Statistical Procedure: The data collected from the four groups prior to and immediately after the training programme on the selected criterion variables were statistically analyzed with Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA). Whenever the ‘F’ ratio for adjusted post test means was found to be significant, Scheffe’s test was followed, as a post hoc test to determine which of the paired mean differences was significant. In all the cases .05 level of confidence was fixed as a level of confidence to test the hypotheses. Results: The experimental groups namely, Yogic practices, Dynamic sports vision training and coalesce of yogic practices and dynamic Sports vision training had significantly improved in Visual reaction time, Dynamic visual Acuity, Basketball Passing and Shooting. Conclusion: Coalesce of yogic practices and dynamic Sports vision training group was found to better than Yogic practices group and Dynamic sports vision training group in improving Visual reaction time, Dynamic visual Acuity, Basketball Passing and Shooting.
