Abstract:

Aim: The aim of this study is to analyze the news about health violence published in Medimagazin health news portal in 2019. Method: Medimagazin news portal was examined in order to determine the news of violence against healthcare workers in the research. It was accessed the news of the Medimagazin news portal on violence in health between January 1, 2019 and December 31, 2019. Results: In this descriptive research, it is purposed to reveal the extent of violence events that occurred in health care in the last year. When the findings of the study were examined, it was seen that the most violent news is in September and in Istanbul. It was identified that the violence was mostly applied by patients and their relatives, and the group that experienced the violence most was the physicians. It was found that the violence in the news reports was mostly physical violence and the rate of injury due to violence was 54%. It was demonstrated that injuries were mostly caused by physical factors such as pushing and hitting. It was determined that public hospitals were the health institutions where the violence was highest, and the violence occurred mostly in polyclinics. When the reasons affecting the emergence of violence were examined, it was found that the request for irregular drugs and reports was the first. Conclusion: There is a need for more concrete practices to protect employees in healthcare workplaces.
