Abstract:

The aim of this study is to determine the perceptions of students studying in primary school classes 3 and 4 to the concepts of "science" and "science lesson" through metaphors. In the study, one of the high-quality research techniques was used. The research sample is made up of students of the 3th and 4th grade of primary school, one located in the village, one in the district and one in the center, one selected by the typical state sample method in the 2016-2017 educational year. A total of 470 students, including 246 girls and 224 men, collected data. To collect the data of the research, primary school students are like "Science... Because...” and “Fen science lesson... is like. He said, “They are asked to complete their words. The data obtained from the study is analyzed and interpreted by content analysis. The study found that the students produced 103 metaphors about the concept of "science" and 97 metaphors about the concept of "science".  These produced metaphors were gathered under 8 different categories for "science" and 9 different categories for "science course". The study found that for an average of 2 concepts, every 4 students produced a different metafor.
