Abstract:

Depression is a common psychological disorder due to multiple factors in terms of etiology. The aim of this study is to evaluate the impact of early life experiences on erroneous thought patterns and negative mood through the lens of the phenomenon of depression. In this context, information about the onset, symptoms, and prevalence of depression is provided. This case presentation focuses on a 26-year-old female client experiencing symptoms related to depression. In addition to intense feelings of sadness, loss of interest, and disturbances in sleep and appetite, the client was found to have feelings of guilt and worthlessness. She sought psychological support to address these symptoms. After a detailed exploration of her life history, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) was utilized to reduce and eliminate depression symptoms. The appropriate techniques of CBT for this case are elaborated upon in detail. Following the application of methods and techniques during the psychotherapy process, there was a reduction in the intensity of the client’s symptoms. This presentation aims to examine and discuss a case of an individual diagnosed with depression and to present the treatment process through cognitive-behavioral therapy.
