Abstract:

In today's modern family structure, male and female roles are separated from the traditional order and shared in a more egalitarian way depending on the increase of education level and the work of both spouses. Despite this, the sharing of the role of earning money in the family between men and women does not increase the sharing of domestic roles at the same rate. In this context, the study was conducted to examine family role sharing in the context of gender role perception of white-collar working married women and men. The snowball sampling method was used in this study, which was conducted using the semi-structured interview technique, one of the qualitative research methods. The data were analyzed by descriptive analysis. The working group consists of 20 participants in total, 10 married couples with children and working. As a result of the research, it is seen that there is a significant increase in an egalitarian way when compared to the traditional role understanding in terms of working with both spouses, decision-making situation, and sharing roles in the family. Despite this, most domestic roles are in women, and the majority of out-of-home responsibilities are in men was observed due to the internalization of gender role perception.
