Abstract:

Poetry is described as words with meter and rhyme in Classic Turkish Literature. Figures of rhyme sequence and line numbers compose verse forms of this literature. Âdile Sultan who lived in 19th century is the only female poet of Ottoman dynasty and there is no women apart from her who has a divan in the dynasty. But her misfortune is living in the fall period of the empire. However, it is understood that she was well-educated and decent, Âdile Sultan had not enough performance for poetry and she could not use verse forms of Classic Turkish Literature properly. In Adile Sultan’s Divan, there various problems about verse forms of Classic Turkish Literature. Order of the Divan and the verse forms are primary problems. Ode, ghazel, terkib-i bend, terci-i bend, stanza, tahmis and hexagon are described as problematic verse forms in this study. Additionally, 30 poems which are not verse forms of rhetoric books are found in her Divan. Moreover these poems constitute %12 percentage of this literary work. However, these issues are primary problems of Âdile Sultan’s poetry, they can be explained according to disadvantages of the century when she lived in terms of Classic Turkish Literature.
