Abstract:

Digital technology plays an important role in the socialization of elderly individuals. With the help of technology, elderly individuals are able to improve their quality of life in their daily lives. Elderly individuals are trying to adapt to technology innovations on a daily basis and the rate of technology use is increasing on a daily basis. However, along with the physical and mental changes that age has brought, they are also facing many obstacles in the use of technology. The study aims to conduct a theoretical debate on how digital technology affects the lives of elderly individuals. Thus, along with the changes and developments in technology, the process of acceptance, use and adaptation of technological products by elderly individuals is sociologically important. In this context, moving from the concepts of work, ageing, socialization, and digital technology, the socialization process focuses on how older individuals use digital technology, how they adapt to it, and how they integrate this technology into their lives. Thus, the elderly individuals who encounter digital technology in the last stages of their lives, although they are concerned about the use of technology, digital technology facilitates their daily lives in all areas, from communication to health problems, helping them live an independent life and live an active ageing period.
