Abstract:

the purpose of this study is to investigate the impact of new media on news consumption practices, for this purpose, ege university communication faculty journalism department students were applied to 378 participants to investigate the specified topic as an example of findings according to the findings that news consumption has been largely lost into new media, especially mobile phones have become indispensable for news tracking, the most important other bugus of the research is to see the printed newspaper as the most reliable news officer, which still against the new media-oriented ongoing of news tracking

This article aims to assess the widespread impact of new media on news consumption. In the pursue of this aim, a survey is implemented on 378 participants who are the students of Ege University, Faculty of Communication, Journalism Department. According to the findings, news are widely followed in new media rather than the traditional one. Especially mobile phones are the most favourite means of this choice. Another important finding of the research is the fact that despite the rise of new media in news consumption, participants think that traditional media is still the most trustworthy source of news.
