Abstract:

Advances have been made in the number and properties of materials used in building constructions with the development of technology. With the developing technology, structures can be built more economically, faster and more durable. In terms of meeting the housing needs in the construction sector, these new technologies enable different and complex building designs to be made when compared to traditional building materials. One of these technological developments, 3D (3 dimensional) printers are preferred in the construction sector due to many advantages such as reducing the production time of the building material, the labor cost and the reduction of environmental pollution. In this article, the developments of building materials produced with 3D printer technology are examined. In this study scope, the use of 3D printers in the construction industry and the production of building materials were investigated. Moreover, examples of the structures produced with 3D printer technology were given in the study and a comparison was made between the structures produced with traditional techniques. A literature search was conducted to examine and evaluate the examples of structures produced with 3D printer technology. The advantages and disadvantages of the structures produced with 3D printer technology are explained through these examples. As a result of the examinations, the cost and labor expenses of the materials produced with 3D printer technology are reduced. The fact that the waste rate of these materials is less than traditional materials in terms of energy saving ensures the production of environmentally friendly buildings.
