Abstract:

When the studies conducted in the field of nature of science in Turkey are examined in the summer, it is seen that very few studies are focused on the beliefs of classmatch teachers candidates towards nature of science. This study aims to evaluate the perceptions of scientific knowledge to the epistemology of classmates in classmates 1, 2 and 3 based on their current views and to determine whether the views change according to class level. In this study designed as a case study, the data was collected through the questions chosen from the teacher candidates from the "Vision Survey on the Nature of Science (VNOS-C)" through the imagistic analysis technique. The findings of the research have shown that teachers’ candidates have more “unsuitable” opinions about the “uncertain nature of science”, the “experimental nature of science”, the “exceptional nature of science” than the “acceptable” and “informed” categories. It has also been concluded that the opinions of teachers candidates on the epistemology of scientific knowledge do not show significant differences according to the class level. The research draws attention to the teaching candidates' misinformation and conceptual errors regarding scientific knowledge, and offers suggestions on how to perform the teaching on this subject and how to follow the path.
