Abstract:

This study aims to study their mothers’ levels of depression, anxiety, stress, and self-esteem as a contributor to self-esteem in high school students. Another purpose of the study is to show that high school students’ self-respect is significantly different from their mothers’ level of learning. The sample of the study, studying in various secondary schools in Samsun's Havza and Alaçam districts, is formed by 150 students and 150 mothers, including 74 girls and 76 men. The model of the study is a cutting-edge type relative scanning model and the participants are determined by the appropriate sampling method from non-selective sampling methods. As a data collection tool in the study, the researcher prepared the personal information form for determining the gender, age, class level, mother education level of the participants,Coopersmith Self-respect Reserve for the purpose of identifying the levels of self-respect of students, the mother’s self-respect levels, the Rosenberg Self-respect Scale and the mother’s depression, anxiety, stress levels were also used to identify the Depression Anxiety Stress Scale. The data was analyzed with the help of the SPSS 17 package program and used the One-Way ANOVA and Multiple Regression Analysis methods. The study found that the level of self-esteem of high school students varied significantly according to the level of learning of their mothers, that the level of self-esteem of mothers poses the level of self-esteem of high school students in a positive direction, that the level of depression, anxiety, stress of mothers cannot poses the level of self-esteem of high school students.
