Abstract:

The aim of this research is to reveal which ethical rules are required in the evaluation and publication process of a study sent to a scientific journal from the editor's point of view. For this purpose, online and face-to-face semi-structured interviews were conducted with the editors of national and international journals in the field of tourism. While conducting the interviews, convinience sampling and snowball sampling methods were used. The data obtained from the interviews were divided into themes, sub-themes and codes and subjected to qualitative content analysis. Accordingly, it has been understood that the issue of ethics is extremely important for all participants, various measures are taken to prevent ethical violations, and studies are definitively rejected in case an uncorrectable ethical violation is detected. On the other hand, it has been understood that there are differences of opinion on issues such as referee suggestions and feedback to publications with ethical violations. It is one of the other findings of the study that the ethical violations frequently encountered in the tourism literature are attribution-related violations, data-related violations and various other violations.
