Abstract:

Karanlık Dünya Aşık Veysel (Dark World Aşık Veysel) is a movie made in 1952. The film is about the life of Âşık Veysel Şatıroğlu. In this movie directed by Metin Erksan, Âşık Veysel also took part in addition to movie actors. The script of the film belongs to the poet and painter Bedri Rahmi Eyüboğlu. The film was censored by the Ankara Merkez Film Kontrol Komisyonu (Ankara Central Film Control Commission). It was released after some parts were cut. At the time of its release, the film was discussed in many ways and criticized for various reasons. The place of Âşık Veysel's poems in the tradition of minstrelsy has been studied by many researchers. On the other hand, very little information is available about the movie Karanlık Dünya Aşık Veysel. Âşık Veysel has an important place in our Folk poetry tradition and Bedri Rahmi has an important place in Modern Turkish poetry. The main problem statement of this study is how Bedri Rahmi describes the life of Aşık Veysel whom he had the opportunity to get to know, and to what extent Eyüboğlu adheres to reality. From this point of view, in our study, how Bedri Rahmi handled Âşık Veysel in the script of the film was examined by document analysis, one of the qualitative research methods.
