Edebiyat, yaşamı, kişisel ve toplumsal ilişkileri, bu ilişkilerin farklı boyutlarını estetik olarak sunan bir araçtır. Sanatçı toplumsal olaylara, değişimlere, gelişmelere kayıtsız kalamaz. Toplumdaki çatışmaları ve bağları edebiyatın kendine has yöntemleriyle dile getirir. Kişi ile toplumun çıkarları arasındaki uzlaşmazlığı ortadan kaldırmak için mevcut durumu algılama, anlama ve saptama olanağı sunar. Edebî hayatına öykü denemeleriyle başlayan, şiire ilgisi öyküye yöneliminden sonra devreye giren Kemal Özer, İkinci Yeni şiir anlayışından edindiği dilsel deneyimi toplumcu içerikle bütünleştirir. Özer’in şiir kitaplarında ölüm teması önemli bir yer tutar. Ölümle iç içe yaşamak durumunda kalan insan, bu kavramı tıbbî, dinî, felsefî, psikolojik ve sosyolojik açıdan farklı şekillerde algılar. Anlamı olayın yaşanmasına değil, daha çok olgu karşısındaki yorumlara bağlı olan ölüm, Özer’in şiirlerinde yas evresindeki analar için sevilen bir kişiye kavuşma ve onunla buluşmayı/ birleşmeyi ifade eder. Bazı şiir özneleri ve nesneleri içinse fiziksel ölüm fikirle, eserle, eylemle dünyadaki varlığını devam ettirmeye açılan kapıdır. Çalışmada Kemal Özer’in şiirlerinde fiziksel ölüm, ölen kişinin ardında bıraktığı kişiler tarafından tutulan yas ya da içinde bulunulan melankolik durumla açıklanmaya çalışıldı. Kişilerin psikolojik ve sosyolojik bakımdan yaşadığı ölüm ya da ölümsüzlük değerlendirildi.
Literature is a tool that aesthetically offers the life, personal and social relations and various dimensions of these relationships. An artist cannot remain indifferent to public events, changes and developments and express social conflicts and bonds with the unique methods of literature. He or she provides the opportunity to perceive, understand and identify the current situation in order to eliminate the disagreement between the interests of the individual and society. Having started his literary life with short tory experiments and taken interest in poetry after that, Kemal Özer was influenced by the Second New (Second New) movement at the beginning. The theme of death occupies a significant place in the poetry of Özer. An individual who happens to live in close quarters with death perceives this phenomenon in various perspectives such as medically, religiously, philosophically, psychologically and sociologically. The meaning of death lies not in the experience of the phenomenon but rather in the perspectives on it, and the poetry of Özer depicts death as the meeting and re-joining of mourning mothers with their beloved. For the various subjects and objects of the poems, physical death is the door to continue one’s existence in the world with ideas, works and actions. This study analyses physical death, mourning of relatives after a dead person and subsequent melancholic condition as defined in the poetry of Kemal Özer. The study also evaluates death and immortality as psychologically and sociologically experienced by individuals. The .
