Abstract:

This inscription, which was erected in 732 by Bilge Kagan, the khan of the Köktürks, was erected to show his gratitude to his brother for his services. Located within the borders of Arhangey, 300 kilometers west of Ulan Bator, the inscription is near the Çaydam lake, 60 kilometers from the city of Harhorin. The inscription, which was discovered by Russian Nikolay Yadrinstev on July 18, 1889 and later called "Kül Tėgin Inscription" in the scientific community, sheds light on the Turkish language, history and culture. In the content of the inscription, the military-political situation of the Köktürk state, the Chinese-Turkish relations in general terms and the heroism of Kül Tėgin are mentioned. Three sides of the inscription are runic-letter Turkish and one side is Chinese. Inscription; It consists of 61 lines in total, with 13 lines on the south face, 40 lines on the east face, 13 lines on the north-east face, 1 line on the south-east face, and 1 line on the south-west face. prof. Dr. Ali Akar's "Kül Tigin Inscription" published by Ötüken Publications in 2022 is important in that it is the last book-based study in the field.
