Abstract:

The concept of refugee has a special meaning in law. However, in daily life, it is seen that people who have migrated from their country to another country are called refugees. Refugee issue has been remaining on the agenda in Turkey in recent years. After the Syrian civil war that started in 2013, hundreds of thousands of Syrians took refuge in Turkey. Government agencies, civil society organization and individuals do many things for refugees. Sometimes, literature, whose object is human, also deals with refugees. Contemporary Turkish storytellers write stories about refugees. For example, Yıldız Ramazanoğlu, Fatma Barbarosoğlu, Mukadder Gemici, Abdullah Harmancı, Cemel Şakar have stories about refugees. One of the writers mentioning refugees is Cihan Aktaş. Cihan Aktaş refers to people who went to another country from their country in her various story books. Some of them are the migrating people because of the difficult conditions in their countries. Cihan Aktaş's story book, "Fotoğrafta Ayrı Duran, published in 2017, is a special book. The subject of all the stories in this book is refugees. There are fourteen stories in the book. Telling story of Turks, Iranians, Afghans, Georgians, Uzbeks migrating etc. in her previous books, Cihan Aktaş focuses upon Syrian immigrants and refugees in "Fotoğrafta Ayrı Duran". In this study, at first, the issue of refugees in today's Turkish story was focused on. In the second place, it was evaluated how Cihan Aktaş tackles refugee issue in her story book "Fotoğrafta Ayrı Duran". Generally, Aktaş tells about the lives of Syrian refugees in Syria before the war and during the war, and their lives in the countries where they migrated (this country is usually Turkey) and took shelter. One of the most striking charasteristics of the stories is that the author narrates the Syrian refugees together with the stories of the local people who try to understand them and want to do something for them.
