Bu araştırmada, çocukların problem davranışları ile ebeveynlerinin kişilik özellikleri arasındaki ilişkinin incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Bu temel amaç çerçevesinde; ebeveynlerin kişilik özelliklerinin ve çocukların problem davranışlarının çeşitli değişkenlere göre farklılaşıp farklılaşmadığı araştırılmıştır. İlişkisel tarama modeline uygun olarak düzenlenen araştırmanın örneklemi, 2016-2017 eğitim öğretim yılında İstanbul ili Avrupa Yakası’ndaki Büyükçekmece, Beylikdüzü, Avcılar, Küçükçekmece ve Esenler ilçelerinden basit seçkisiz örnekleme modeliyle seçilmiş 15 okul öncesi eğitim kurumunda (4 devlet, 11 özel) eğitim görmekte olan 4-6 yaş grubu 315 çocuk ve ebeveynlerinden oluşmuştur. Araştırmada kullanılan veri toplama araçları; Bilgi Formu, Uluslararası Kişilik Envanteri ve Anaokulu ve Anasınıfı Davranış Ölçeği (PKBS–2)’dir. Araştırma için toplanan veriler SPSS 22 programı kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Araştırmadan elde edilen bulgular şöyledir: Ebeveynlerin kişilik özellikleri ile çocukların problem davranışları arasında anlamlı ilişki saptanmıştır. Ebeveynlerin kişilik özellikleri ebeveynin çalışma durumuna ve sahip olunan çocuk sayısına göre anlamlı düzeyde farklılaşmaktadır. Çocukların problem davranışları ise ailedeki çocuk sayısına göre farklılaşmazken; devam edilen anaokul türüne, annenin çalışma durumuna ve ailenin gelir düzeyine göre anlamlı düzeyde farklılaşmaktadır.
