1970’li yıllardan itibaren gelişme göstermeye başlayan ve her geçen gün popülaritesi artan bir turizm türü olarak dikkati çeken ekoturizm kavramının tarihsel kökleri 19. Yüzyılda artmaya başlayan politik baskılar sonucunda oluşmaya başlayan milli parklara ve yaşam alanlarına kadar götürülebilmektedir. Öte yandan ekoturizm hakkında oldukça kapsamlı bir bilimsel yazın bulunmakla birlikte, kavramın etimolojik kökeni ve kapsamı hakkında bilimsel yazında bir uzlaşı bulunmamaktadır. Bundan dolayı, bu çalışmanın ilk bölümü kavramsal çerçeve oluşturmak için ekoturizm kavramını inceleyecektir. İzleyen bölümde çalışmanın yöntemi hakkında kısa bir özet verilmektedir. Kuşadası’nın ekoturizm potansiyelinin keşfedilmesi ve GZFT (Güçlü Yönler, Zayıf Yönler/ Fırsatlar Tehditler - SWOT Strengths, Weaknesses / Opportunities, and Threats) analizi yapmak için yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme tekniği kullanılmıştır. Bu çerçevede Ağustos 2019 döneminde ilgi gruplarının temsilcisi olan 24 kişiyle yüz yüze görüşmeler yapılmıştır. İzleyen bölümde Kuşadası ilçesi ve ilçenin 5 ekoturizm güzergâhı ortaya konulmaktadır. Bu bölümde Kuşadası’nın ekonomik, sosyal ve çevresel sorunları ilgi gruplarının düşüncelerine göre ortaya konulmuştur. Daha sonra Kuşadası’nın ekoturizm potansiyelini değerlendirmek için bir GZFT analizi yapılmıştır. GZFT analizinin sonuçlarına göre orta ve uzun vadede ulusal ve yerel düzeyde doğru politikalar oluşturulabilirse, Kuşadası bölgesinin ekoturizmin zayıflıkları giderilebilir. Son olarak bu çalışma sonuç ve öneriler bölümünde, sahada gerçekleştirilen yarı yapılandırılmış mülakatların sonuçları çerçevesinde şekillendirilen oldukça detaylı bir değerlendirme ve öneriler listesi sunmaktadır.
The historical roots of the concept of ecotourism, which began to develop since the 1970s and is considered as a type of tourism that increases its popularity every day. It can be taken to the national parks and living areas that began to form as a result of political pressures that began to rise over the century. On the other hand, although there is a very comprehensive scientific summer on ecoturism, there is no consensus in the scientific summer on the etymological origin and scope of the concept. Therefore, the first part of this study will study the concept of ecotourism to create a conceptual framework. In the following section, a brief summary of the method of work is provided. It has been used a semi-configured conversation technique to explore the eco-tourism potential and to analyze GZFT (Strengths, Weaknesses / Opportunities, and Threats). In this framework, in the period of August 2019 face-to-face talks were held with 24 persons who were representatives of interest groups. In this section, the economic, social and environmental issues of the Kuşadası are presented according to the opinions of the interest groups. According to the results of the GZFT analysis, if appropriate policies can be established at the national and local level in the medium and long term, the weaknesses of ecoturism in the Kuşadası region can be removed. Finally, in this study’s results and recommendations section, it provides a very detailed list of assessments and recommendations formed in the framework of the results of the semi-structured interviews carried out in the field.
