Sınıf dışı öğretim ortamlarından biri olan müzeler alternatif öğrenme mekanları olarak gün geçtikçe daha fazla önem kazanmaktadırlar. Bu nedenle gelişmiş ülkelerde, okullara yönelik reformlar ile öğretmenler müze ve galerilerin eğitim amaçlı programlarından yararlanmaları için teşvik edilmektedirler (Özsoy, 2002). Buna karşın müze ziyareti sadece öğretmenlerin çabaları ile gerçekleştirilebilecek basit bir geziden çok daha fazla potansiyele sahip karmaşık bir süreçtir. Müze ziyaretlerinin öğrenciler için etkili bir eğitim sürecine dönüşebilmesi için müze ve olanaklarının da dâhil olduğu pek çok faktörün bu amaca hizmet etmesi gerekmektedir. Bu anlamda etkili bir müze eğitimi için öğretmenlere olduğu kadar müzelere de sorumluluklar düşmektedir. Çünkü Türkiye’de yeterince anlaşılmamış olan müze eğitimi konusundaki sorunlardan biri de müzelerin eğitim çalışmalarına yer ve zaman ayırmadaki isteksizliğidir (İlhan, 2002). Müzelerin bir eğitim ortamı olarak değerlendirilebilmesi için pek çok düzenlemenin gerçekleştirilmesi gerekmektedir. Bunun için öncelikle eğitimi gerçekleştirecek olan öğretmen ve öğretmen adaylarının müzelerden beklentilerinin bilimsel olarak ortaya konması ve bu veriler ışığında müzelerde düzenlemelere gidilmesi gerekmektedir. Bu araştırmada ‘Görsel sanatlar öğretmen adaylarının bir eğitim ortamı olarak müzelerden beklentileri nelerdir?’ sorusuna yanıt aranmaktadır. Araştırmada tarama yöntemi uygulanmıştır. Araştırma Müze Eğitimi ve Uygulamaları dersini alan 56 görsel sanatlar öğretmen adayı ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Veri toplama aracı olarak araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen açık uçlu görüş formu kullanılmış ve elde edilen veriler betimsel analiz yoluyla çözümlenmiştir. Araştırmada görsel sanatlar öğretmen adaylarının sanat etkinlikleri için müzelerde ayrı bir sanat atölyesi/odası olmasını; sergilemede anlaşılırlık sağlanmasını; müze eğitimcisi, müze rehberi gibi görevliler eşliğinde öğrencilere yönelik müze eğitimi etkinlikleri gerçekleştirilmesini; çalışma yaprakları, müze rehberi, eser kopyaları, sanatsal malzemeler gibi eğitsel materyallerin müzelerce sağlanmasını; öğretmen/öğretmen adaylarına yönelik müzeyle ilgili düzenli bilgilendirme seminerlerinin/sunumlarının yapılmasını bekledikleri sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.
Museums, which are one of the non-class teaching environments, are getting more and more important as alternative learning spaces. Therefore, in developed countries, school reforms and teachers are encouraged to take advantage of the educational programs of museums and galleries (Özsoy, 2002). Nevertheless, the museum visit is a complex process with much more potential than a simple journey that can only be accomplished by the efforts of the teachers. Many factors, including the museum and its facilities, need to serve this purpose in order to transform museum visits into an effective educational process for students. In this sense, the responsibilities of the museums are equal to the teachers for an effective museum education. Because one of the problems with the issue of museum education, which is not enough understood in Turkey, is the unwillingness of the museums to spend time and space on their educational work (Ilhan, 2002). Many arrangements need to be implemented in order to assess the museums as an educational environment. To do this, it is necessary to scientifically reveal the expectations of the teachers and teachers candidates from the museums who will conduct their training and to go to arrangements in the museums in the light of these data. In this study, "What are the expectations of visual arts teachers candidates from the museums as an educational environment?" Reply to the question is asked. The research method has been applied. Research Museum Education and Applications course of 56 visual arts was carried out with the teacher candidate. The open-end view form developed by the researcher as a data collection tool was used and the obtained data was analyzed through visual analysis. In the study, visual arts teachers candidates have a separate art workshop/room in the museums for art activities; to provide clarity in the exhibition; to conduct museal training activities for students with staff such as museum educators, museum guides; to provide the museums with educational materials such as worksheets, museum guides, works copies, art materials; to attend to conduct regular information seminars/signs concerning the museum for teachers/learners candidates.
