Abstract:

The aim of this study is to determine the level of physical activity of students in universities and to determine the relationship between levels of participation in physical activity according to some demographic characteristics. The study group is composed of 1026 students who are studying in different programs in Eskisehir Osmangazi University in 2013-2014 education. Personal information form was used to determine the demographic characteristics of students participating in the research (gender, age, amount of monthly spending, field of study and class), and Cooper physical activity scale was used to determine participation levels in physical activities. SPSS 18.0 program was used for statistical analysis of the data. In the analysis of the data, '' frequency, percentage, chi-square and one way Anova '' were used. Statistical significance was accepted as 0.05. According to the results of the research When the frequency and percentage distributions of the physical activity levels of the students studying in different programs in universities are evaluated, 28.8% of the students were sedentary, 21.2% were low level active, 17.8% were moderately active and 32.2% were high level active. There was a statistically significant difference in the physical activity levels of the students according to gender, monthly spending amount, type of accommodation and education field variables, but it was not found according to age and class variables.
