KÜLTÜREL DEĞERLER PERSPEKTİFİNDE GİRİŞİMCİLİK EĞİLİMİ ÜZERİNE BİR ARAŞTIRMA

Abstract:

Bireyin göstereceği girişimci davranışlar günümüzde hem bireylerin hem toplumların refahı açısından kritik bir unsur haline gelmiştir. Girişimcilik, bireyin istihdam fırsatlarını ve başarı yönelimini karakterize eden bağlamsal ve bireysel değişkenlerin bir fonksiyonudur. Bireyin kişiliği ile birlikte içinde yaşadığı ve sosyalizasyon süreci ile davranışlarını yoğun biçimde şekillendiren kültürel çevrenin ise ekonomik gelişmişliğin nüvesi olan girişim içeren davranışları etkilemesi beklenmektedir. Bu bağlamda çalışmanın amacı, toplumsal kültürel değerler olan güç mesafesi, belirsizlikten kaçınma, toplulukçuluk ve erillik ile genç yetişkinlerin girişimcilik eğilimi arasındaki ilişki ve etkileşimi görmektir. Bu amaç doğrultusunda üniversite öğrenimine devam eden 290 öğrenciye araştırma ölçekleri ve demografik değişkenleri içeren anket uygulanmıştır. Araştırma bulguları değerlendirildiğinde, katılımcıların güç mesafesi, toplulukçuluk ve erillik kültürel değerler ile girişimcilik eğilimleri arasında pozitif yönde, belirsizlikte kaçınma ile negatif yönde ve istatistiksel açıdan anlamlı ilişki görülmüştür. Kurulan hiyerarşik regresyon modeline ise sırasıyla en fazla katkıyı güç mesafesi, erillik ve toplulukçuluk kültürel değerlerinin sağladığı görülmüştür. Demografik değişkenler değerlendirildiğinde kadın ve erkek katılımcılıların girişimcilik eğilimi ortalamaları arasındaki farklılığın istatistiksel olarak anlamlı, üniversitede geçirilen süre, ailenin geliri, anne ve baba iş durumu ile ailenin yaşadığı yer değişkenleri ise anlamlı olmadığı görülmüştür.

The entrepreneurial behavior that the individual will show has now become a critical element in terms of the well-being of both individuals and communities. Entrepreneurship is a function of contextual and individual variables that characterize the individual’s employment opportunities and the direction of success. It is expected that the cultural environment in which the individual lives along with his personality and intensely shapes his behavior through the process of socialization and the cultural environment will influence the behavior that includes the initiative, which is the core of economic development. The aim of the study in this context is to see the relationship and interaction between the power distance, the social and cultural values, the avoidance of uncertainty, the sociality and erility, and the entrepreneurial tendency of young adults. In accordance with this goal, a survey of 290 students who continue to study at the university has been implemented with research scales and demographic variables. When the research findings were evaluated, the power distance of the participants, community and erility cultural values and entrepreneurial trends were seen in a positive direction, avoiding uncertainty and a negative and statistically meaningful relationship. The established hierarchical regression model has been shown to be the most contributed accordingly by the power distance, the cultural values of erility and community. When the demographic variables are assessed, the difference between the average entrepreneurial tendency of women and men participants is statistically meaningful, the time spent at the university, the income of the family, the mother and father's job status and the variables of the place where the family lives are not meaningful.

A Research On Entrepreneurial Propensity From A Cultural Values Perspective

Entrepreneurial behaviors of the individual have become a critical element for the welfare of both individuals and societies. Entrepreneurial is a function of both contextual and individual variables such as the situation that characterizes an individual’s employment opportunities and their achievement orientation. It is expected that the cultural environment in which the individual lives together with his / her personality and shapes the socialization process intensively will affect the behaviors that are the core of economic development. In this context, this study investigates the relationship and interaction between cultural values of power distance, uncertainty avoidance, collectivism, and masculinity and entrepreneurial propensity on a sample of young adults. In order to investigate the potential influence of a set of cultural values on entrepreneurial propensity, a total of 290 university students were contacted to participate in a survey designed for investigating the aforementioned research problem. According to the findings of the study, power distance, collectivism, and masculinity are positively correlated with entrepreneurial propensity, whereas uncertainty avoidance is negatively correlated. The hierarchical regression analysis shows that the cultural values of power distance, masculinity and collectivism make the greatest contribution respectively to explain the variance in entrepreneurial propensity. As for the demographic variables, men and women have statistically different entrepreneurial propensity scores whereas the number of years spent at university, family income, whether the parents work or not, and place of residence do not have any significant influence on the dependent variable.
