Abstract:

The targeted behavior, ability and knowledge in education are measured and evaluated through examinations. The main aim of the exams described as a measurement tool in the learning teaching process is to determine the level of achievement of the learners. When determining the level of attainment of the achievement a student, it is very important that the exam to be applied to the student is prepared in accordance with the development levels of the students. An examination, which takes into account the level of development of the pupils, is very important for achieving more reliable results in terms of the teacher in determining the learning level of the pupil's achievements. These exams are designed to measure students' levels and are an important step in the student's life. Because the results of the exams are important for effective continuity of the learning and teaching process. The exams are also effective in motivating students to study at the same time. Exam; Providing feedback for the teacher and the student together with incomplete and incorrect learning. The main purpose of this research is to reveal the mental imagery of the "exam" concept of middle school 8th grade students attending state and private schools through metaphors. The study group consists of a total of 290 students in the fall semester of 2016-2017 academic years in Ankara, İzmir, Malatya, Şanlıurfa, Adana, Trabzon and Bursa, of which 150 are women and 140 are male students. The data of the study, the students in the 8th grade students of the secondary school who are consulted within the scope of the research "Exam ............. Similar to, because ............. "Is achieved by completing the census. As a result of the research done, the mental imagery that the students have produced has caused their test anxiety.
