Kurumsallaşma Düzeylerinin İşletme Yapısına Göre İncelenmesi: Oteller Üzerine Bir Araştırma

Araştırmanın genel amacı, otellerin kurumsallaşma düzeylerinin sezonluk, zincir ve aile işletmesi olup olmaması gibi özelliklere göre farklılaşıp farklılaşmadığını tespit etmektir. Bu bağlamda Antalya bölgesinde faaliyet gösteren 45 adet 5 yıldızlı otelin üst ve orta kademe yöneticilerine kurumsallaşma düzey ölçeği uygulanmıştır. Kurumsallaşma ölçeği, işletmelerin kurumsallaşma düzeylerini formalleşme, profesyonelleşme, kültürel güç, tutarlılık ve saydamlık olmak üzere beş farklı boyut üzerinden ölçmektedir. Otellere dair ölçülen kurumsallaşma düzeyleri ile otellerin yapısal özellikleri arasında yapılan analizler sonucunda tam yıl faaliyet gösteren otellerin sezonluk otellere göre daha yüksek düzeyde formalleştiği ve kültürel güç ortalamalarının daha yüksek olduğu görülmüştür. Bunun dışında aile işletmesi olmayan otellerin de aile işletmesi olan otellere göre daha yüksek düzeyde formalleştiği tespit edilmiştir. Otellerin herhangi bir zincire dahil olup olmamaları ile kurumsallaşma düzeyleri arasında ilişki tespit edilemezken personel sayısı daha yüksek olan otellerde de formalleşme düzeyinin yüksek olduğu görülmüştür.

Review of corporate level according to the business structure: A research on hotels

Abstract:

The general purpose of the study is to identify whether the level of corporation of hotels differs by characteristics such as whether they are seasonal, chain and family business. In this context, the corporation level scale has been applied to the top and middle-level managers of 45 five-star hotels operating in the Antalya region. The corporate scale measures the corporate levels of by five different dimensions: formalization, professionalization, cultural power, consistency and respect. The analysis of the measurement of the level of corporation and the structural characteristics of the hotels has shown that the hotels operating throughout the year are formalized at a higher level than the seasonal hotels and the average cultural power is higher. In addition, it has been found that non-family-owned hotels are more formalized than family-owned hotels. The relationship between whether the hotels are included in any chain and the level of corporationalization cannot be identified, while the number of staff in the hotels with a higher level of formalization has also been seen.

The main objective of this study, to determine the differences of institutional levels of the hotels according to their structural attributes like their owners (family business or not), seasonal work or none seasonal and belonging a chain or not. In this context institutionalization level scale was implemented to senior managers and mid-level managers who work in five star hotels in Antalya. Institutionalization level scale is consisted of five dimensions which are formalization, professionalization, cultural power, consistency and transparency. Results of the analysis which made between the institutionalization level and structural attributes of the hotels in Antalya we found that none seasonal hotels have more formalizations and cultural power than seasonal ones. As well as we determined that none family businesses hotels have more formalization level than family business ones.  Finally we found that, the hotels which owns higher staff have higher formalization level.
