Bu araştırmanın amacı, zihinsel engelli çocuğa sahip annelerin iyi oluşlarını, stresle başa çıkma tutumları, aile gereksinimleri ve algılanan sosyal destek değişkenleriyle açıklamaya yönelik yapısal bir model geliştirmektir. Araştırma örneklemini İzmir ilinde yaşayan ve yaş aralığı 15-25 olan 365 zihinsel engelli çocuğun anneleri oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmada veri toplama aracı olarak Psikolojik İyi Oluş Ölçeği, Stresle Başa Çıkma Tarzları Ölçeği, Çok Boyutlu Algılanan Sosyal Destek Ölçeği ve Aile Gereksinimleri Belirleme Aracı kullanılmıştır. Yapılan yapısal eşitlik modeli analizinde, psikolojik iyi oluş ile problem odaklı baş etme ve algılanan sosyal desteğin pozitif yönde, duygu odaklı baş etme ve aile gereksinimlerinin ise negatif yönde ilişkili olduğu bulunmuştur. Buna ek olarak, algılanan sosyal desteğin, problem odaklı baş etme ve aile gereksinimleri değişkenleri ile psikolojik iyi oluş arasında aracılık rolü üstlendiği görülmüştür. Bulgular alanyazın temelinde tartışılmış ve hem uygulayıcılara hem de araştırmacılara yönelik bazı öneriler sunulmuştur.
The aim of this research is to develop a structural model to explain the good forms of mothers with a mental disability child, their attitudes to cope with stress, family needs, and the perceptible social support variables. The research sample is made up of the mothers of 365 mental disabled children living in the province of Izmir and aged 15-25 years. The study used the psychological well-being scale, the scale of stress-dealing ways, the multi-dimensional scale of detected social support and the family needs determination tool as a data collection tool. The analysis of the structural equality model found that psychological well-being and problem-oriented handling and perceptible social support were linked in a positive direction, emotional-oriented handling and family needs were linked in a negative direction. In addition, it has been shown that the perceptible social support has taken the role of mediation between problem-focused handling and the variables in family needs and psychological well-being. The findings were discussed on the basis of the field and some recommendations were presented to both practitioners and researchers.
