Abstract:

Purpose: The place designation in the Turkish culture is usually done by the use of the names of the communities, the size, the affirmation, or the name of the communities. By moving from this thought, the names of some settlements in the Erzurum geography studied the cultural codes of ancient beliefs and communities belonging to it. Method: The work was tried to be kept within the political boundaries. The settlements were identified along with their current names and previous names, and they were attempted to reach the cultural codes on the background of their names.
