Abstract:

In this study teachers’ opinions about principals’ instructional supervision competency have been analyzed in terms of gender, tenure, education level, branch and field of study variables. The research has comprised 150 voluntary teachers working at primary schools within the borders of Akdeniz and Toroslar districts of Mersin province metropolitan area. Data were collected through a questionnaire that was developed by researcher. This data collection means comprises a 25 item scale to determine perceptions of teachers. Data gathered from the questionnaires has been evaluated via SPSS program; applying t-test to determine differences with respect to gender, branch, educational level, and field of study variables; while for tenure variables ANOVA was carried. Findings of the study show that there is no significant difference among teachers’ opinions with respect to gender, field of study and educational level; while they differ significantly in relation to branch and tenure
