Abstract:

Turkish modernization is realized covering the nation-state on the basis of the ideology of nationalization. The study of modernization process, between Turkish modernization operation and in the Ottoman state’s late period take place westernization movements is discussed comparatively. In the period of Tanzimat westernization movement was harm to social dynamic because of the directly place.  In the period of republic, the westernization elements by passing through the filter of Nationalizations were extracted to the social structure. Firstly, this process is based on movements in social identities such as the language, religion, economy and education of nationalization. Scientifically, were attempted to secular orientation with a positivist approach. During the Republican period, the elements of modernization were shaped by the cultural and political characteristics of ancient Turkish societies. Nation-state building process took place exertion to rebuild of the nation over certain components. The efforts of recreating of the nation the concept of “Imagined Communities” of Benedict Anderson were discussed in the modernizing of Republic. In the study the components of nationalism are discussed under separate headings. Social and political transformations must be considered together with the historical, social and politic conditions because it is necessary to consistent discussion. Thus, a component of nationalism was discussed comparatively taking in to account the historical conditions.
