Abstract:

The objective of this study is to evaluate the efficiencies of non-life insurance companies in Turkey since 2008-2010 period. In the study, according to data envelopment analysis method, BCC model with variable return according to input oriented scale and Malmquist total factor productivity index were used. The scale efficiency values and Malmquist total factor productivity index change factors were assessed. Reference sets were formed for non- efficient insurance companies. Assessing the mean scale efficiency, it was seen that the efficiency of insurance companies increased in 2009 compared to 2008 while it decreased in 2010.
