Abstract:

Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar, with his poetic and literary works, is a profound master who provides his reader with new depth and provisions. He becomes a weighty representative of the notion of interpretation by cementing the content and form of his poetry in the richness of the past and by combining his own experience with his impressions and memories. Tanpınar was closer to music and sentiment than to thought. He was a perfectionist in language, and dealing with dreams made him use psychoanalysis in his work. The desire to reach the notion of eternity in time made him use contradictions in great balance. All of these characteristics made his works valuable treasures. He compiled his opinions on poetry in his book Edebiyat Üzerine Makaleler. He also mentions his opinions on poetry in Kerkük Memories and in a letter to a high school student from Antalya. Obviously, the best resources for his poetic views are his poems.
