Abstract:

The purpose of this research is to analyze the bed- utilization effectiveness in hospitals with Pabón Lasso Model. Within the scope of the research, clinicals of the hospitals affiliated to the Public Hospital Unions of Turkey were obtained. The Pabón Lasso Model was used in the study to determine the effectiveness of hospital bed utilization. In the model, bed occupancy rate, bed turnover rate and average length of stay, which are hospital performance indicators, were taken variable. The data of the study were compiled from public hospital associations statistical yearbook data. MS Visio software was used for analyzing the data. According to the Pabón Lasso model, 23% of the clinicals exhibited excellent performance (high bed turnover and high bed turnover rate and short average length of stay), while 18% had a very low performance (low bed turnover and low bed turnover rate, long length of stay). Other clinics (59%) of the hospitals were found to be very low in terms of at least one performance indicator.
