Abstract:

Tazkiras (collection of biographies) are the primary among the most important sources giving information about poets in Turkish literature. Tazkira authors give important information about poets' lives, works and understanding of art. Furthermore, it is also given information about the social, political, economic and cultural structure of the period. The tazkira owner prioritizes the information about the poet's life and literary personality. Some tazkira writers also, apart from these informations, make various evaluations about poets. Ali Shir Nava'i, the first tazkira writer of Turkish literature, also makes important evaluations about the poets in his work named Majalis an-Nafayis. In this respect, Nava’i refers to many qualities of poets. Ali Shir Nava'i, in the Majalis an-Nafayis, has given various information about some of the poets' religions, sects and position that they have reached in mystical meaning. In light of these informations, it will be revealed the religious identities and faith worlds of the poets in Majalis an-Nafayis
