Abstract:

While the stories of Edgar Alan Poe are well known by the Turkish readers, the recent increase in the number of translated poetry of him is striking. One of the main reasons for this is that the technological developments of our age which have driven man to loneliness and turned him into a robot have ended up with a longing for return to nature and to humane feelings. In this context, this paper questions in what way Poe has entered the Turkish Literary Polysystem, and what impact it has had on Turkish poetry. In connection with this, his poems are studied in terms of verse techniques as well as their relations with nature, order and love in consideration for his dual identity as a storyteller and an expressionist poet.
