This study was done to determine the factors that affect nurses’ conflict and professional commitment levels and if there is a meaningful relationship between conflict and professional commitment level of them. Nurses who work in four different public hospitals which serve in Ankara were enrolled in this study. 500 questionnaires were given out to the nurses without any sampling but 443 of them (89%) were returned. A questionnaire with three sections was used in this study as data collection instrument. As questions which were intended to determine traits were given place in the first section, in the second section, Organizational and Professional Conflict Questionnaire which was developed by Mueller and his colleagues (1994) was used to determine the nurses’ conflict levels and Professional and Organizational Commitment which was developed by Wallace (1995) was used to determine their Professional commitment levels. When evaluating the factors which effect nurses’ conflict levels it was found that conflict levels of nurses who work as clinic or policlinic nurses or who don’t have any management positions were meaningfully more than nurses’ who work as head nurses, assistant head nurses and clinic responsible nurses (p<0.05), but, it is found that marital status and working period don’t have a meaningful arbiter for nurses’ conflict levels (p>0.05). Also it is found after examining the factors that affect nurses’ professional commitment that, It was found that effects of marital status, having a management status or not and working duration variables were not meaningful (p>0.05), but there was a meaningful relationship between conflict level and professional commitment (p<0.05). It is thought that research results will provide important information for hospital managers to manage the conflict between nurses and to understand and solve the obstacles on their organizational commitments
