Abstract:

Sufism is one of the most important sources nourishing Turkish literature after acceptance of Islam. This orientation which cannot be limited with statement of religious thought and sensitivity has brought some symbols that provide generation and enrichment of a solid poetry language which has been used for centuries in both our Ottoman and folk poetries. This ideational background which prepares and shapes aesthetic ground of literary texts left its mark in the language in point of historical progress and has kept its contribution to developing poetical opportunities of Turkish language going until today. As well as it is observed that this rich influence was interrupted with Tanzimat reform era and poets leaned to Western thought and sources, it is also pointed out that very influential poets who generated their poetics with Sufi perspective and apprehension in Republican period manifested themselves from time to time. These poets also have brought new initiatives to data that Sufi concepts provide for poetical imagery by internalizing modern poetry with its progress in Western literature, its gained expression opportunities and its reached aesthetic level. Necip Fazıl is the first one that comes to mind in these afore mentioned poets. His adventure as a poet is hand in glove with his ideational and vital values. He led a bohemian life until 1934 and had a thoughtless, painful world of thought. He considers that year as his personal “milestone”; because he met his mentor (guru) Abdülhakim Arvasi one of the Nakşibendi order sheikhs who would transform and improve his spiritual and intellectual perspectives within the period of Sufi study. After this date, he starts to allocate semantic axis of his poem and sensitivity he is nourished for his Sufi perspective. While his outlook on existence, events and facts is formed in line with unity of existence, his poems obtain a semantic theory that such an apprehension is rubbed on off. From now on, art becomes one of the ways for searching of God, feeling divine unity and sensing Sufi experiences. Art obtains functionality by providing opportunities for comprehension and statement of unseen behind the seen, truth behind the veils, unchanging laws of will providing world and universe order, unity of opposites etc.
